EVERYONE likes to perform and entertain!! Players love to participate and parents love to watch. This is a fundamental truth behind sport that has created the "Showcase Phenomenon."
15 years ago the "Showcase Process" started when elite high school athletes were brought to one location to participate in a pro tryout. The idea was to bring college coaches, pro scouts, and great players to one location to compete and compare. The process was successful. With this success came more events and over the next few years all forms of showcases have emerged. Today every region has a showcase tryout, showcase tournaments are all over the country, and the cost to attend these events have risen to staggering levels.
As a result of this growth in showcase activity, college coaches and pro scouts are right back to where they were 15 years ago!!! Showcase events are now for the players and programs who can afford to pay. Individual showcase events are peppered with thousands of average players who pay thousands of dollars to be rated, promoted, and networked to colleges and professional programs. These paying customers are receiving rankings and flowery reports from amateur scouts, collegiate interns, and part-time coaches who can provide great media fluff as they collect the hard earned money of parents who are desperate for help and guidance as they network their athletes.
Today the PSCombine program, sponsored by the non-profit 501(c)3 organization, The Good Citizens Foundation, is putting a stop to all of the "out of control" showcase fleecing of our baseball families around the world.
PSC has researched the current showcase processes, has revealed the pitfalls of the industry, and has vowed to provide an open and honest program that is affordable, educational, and effective. Players will be given the proper time to show their skills in a professional workout environment, not just five balls to catch, 10 balls to hit, and two games to play at. Players will be told honestly there positives and negatives from veteran coaches and instructors who know how to test, assess, and educate. Parents will not receive bogus reports from internet baseball writers and gossip columnists. Nor will parents have to pay for the opportunity to advance to the next regional event or the next national show. We will provide the information needed to improve, network, and move forward and we will take as long as necessary to answer any and all questions regarding recruiting, signing, and playing at the next level.
There is one big reason why we can do this. We do not have any special allegiance to any one college program, international committee, or professional club. We only have one obligation; Provide integrity to the business of baseball with honest and open conviction.
